Peanut Butter Squares

Calling ALL Peanut Butter lovers!! I've got a recipe for YOU!  I certainly can't take credit for this recipe. It came from Autumn Calabrese's FIXATE cookbook, which is full of 21 Day Fix Approved Recipes!  THIS recipe, which is called Peanutty Peanut Butter Squares is definitely something that you want to reserve for a "treat."  They are delicious and hit the spot PERFECTLY! My 3 year old helped me make and taste test them. As I suspected, they were a hit! 

Here is the container count for those following the color coded portion control plan:
The recipe below makes 16 squares.  1 square is equivalent to 1 yellow and 2 1/2 teaspoons.

Peanut Butter Squares

Ingredients:
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • 1 1/2 cups of all natural peanut butter (creamy, not chunky)
  • 1/2 cup raw honey OR pure maple syrup (I used honey)
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda, gluten-free

Directions: 
  1. Preheat over to 350 degrees F.
  2. Lightly coat an 8x8 inch baking pan with spray. Set aside.
  3. Combine peanut butter, honey, extract, eggs, and baking soda in a large bowl; mix well. 
  4. Evenly spread batter into prepared pan. Smooth the top with a spatula. (It gets pretty sticky)
  5. Bake for 20 minutes. Squares will be a bit soft straight out of the oven so let cool before cutting.
  6. Cut in to 16 squares.
Confession Time!  My 3 year old talked me in to adding a handful of dark chocolate chips to a small portion of the pan. I just set them right on top and they baked in perfectly.

Because that means you have some "skin in the game."  I spent 5 days with about 40 kind, compassionate Coaches who are in this business for the RIGHT reason.  We aren't in it to trick anyone into buying something.  We aren't in it to sell a product and leave people hanging without any support. We aren't in it to become millionaires.  We are in it because we genuinely enjoy helping and having a positive impact on others lives.

The theme of the retreat was based off of the book, I AM THAT GIRL, by Alexis Jones. I started reading it on the plane while traveling home and LOVE IT!   Finding your purpose and you WHY in life is VITAL.  We talked a lot about this throughout our trip and we were even able to share our story's with others.

This is the BEAUTIFUL house that we stayed in for our trip.  How amazing is that?!!!  It was a tight fit since there were so many of us, but it was well worth the luxury.

So, what exactly was the point of this? 

Our first night there we spent some time introducing ourselves and getting to know each other.  The majority of us only knew 1 or 2 people (if any) so a little bonding time was needed.  It's crazy how quickly relationships can form through social media.  I swear I felt like I knew several of these girls forever even though it was the first time we actually met face to face!

Cim Carver Training
We spent time each day going through some different training's.  Our leaders put these training's together in order to help us grow our businesses as well as share with our own personal teams.  I came home with PAGES of notes and am already implementing the tips that I have learned, as well as putting together a training of my own for my team!  A HUGE benefit was to have a Beachbody corporate individual there by the name of Cim Carver.  He spent 3 hours sharing his story, talking about goals, and how we can overcome our own obstacles that life puts in the way. It was an emotional roller coaster and really helped put things in to perspective for me.

 In addition to the training's, we also had daily workouts!  These workouts included Cize, PiYo, Tabata / Insanity.  Since we didn't have a gym or huge area for all of us to work out in, the workouts were at staggered times throughout the early morning and we did them right by the pool!!  It was a nice change to do push ups while looking in to the gorgeous pool and fountain!

While there, we also had a special little photo shoot!! We had our hair / make up done and a photographer was there to take some nice business pics that we can now use.  I suppose it's much nicer than a selfie from my phone!!! A little pampering is always nice!

 Aside from the training's and photo shoot, we spent the rest of the time getting to know each other and just ENJOYING ourselves. There was a ton of business talk!  It's crazy how different everyone runs their business and yet are still successful! That's the beauty of this!  We aren't all "cookie cutter" Coaches who do the same thing as everyone else. We put our own spin on things and make it work!

Let's talk just for a minute about the sleeping arrangements.  I knew that with the amount of ladies going it would be a tight fit, but the introvert in me was still a bit nervous.  I'm sure you can imagine how I felt when I saw my name on a tag with more girls than any other room!!  Yep!  Look below! THAT'S the room I was in!! Ahh!!!  If I'm being honest, at first I thought...OH CRAP!  There were 5 beds and 8 of us in there!!  We lugged in 2 double air mattresses and couldn't even walk around when they were inflated!  We only had 1 bathroom too!! We nicknamed the room, Noah's Ark. haha  BUT, let me tell you, it didn't take long for the 8 of us strangers to bond.  By the time we left, we were hugging, exchanging contact info, and we are all chatting through a group message on social media DAILY!!!  I felt like a little girl having a sleep over every night.  We stayed up while mostly everyone else was asleep chatting away!  It just blows my mind at how different we all are, yet how close we all got.

And that right there has made this trip an experience of a lifetime.  The friendships made are irreplaceable and I couldn't be more grateful to have been a part of that.  


 As for the food, we did have a cook :)  My Coach's husband came and cooked ALL meals for ALL of us! Yes, we kept it healthy, for the most part. What kind of Coaches would we be if we didn't practice what we preached?!! There may have been some cookies and cake every now and then, but we had some delicious meals every day! Now that I am home and back to reality, I'm kinda wishing I had a personal chef!

Honestly, leading up to the trip I was kinda regretting my decision to go.  I had some personal things going on with my kids, it was back to school time, my husband had to take a couple days off of work since we didn't have a babysitter, and life was just BUSY! I'm sure you get what I'm saying!  On top of that, I didn't really want to leave my family for 5 days! That regret was LONG GONE after I stepped off of the airplane in Florida.  I had an AMAZING and totally feel revived!  I am so excited to share what I have learned with MY team of Coaches and in return, I can't wait to be able to do something like this for THEM!  A retreat of my own is definitely on my 2016 goal board :)

I can't help but to think back to about 2 years ago.  I had JUST started Coaching, I took a leave of absence from my 6th grade teaching position of 8 years, and I was NOT a risk taker.  I was very much a structured routine person that didn't like changes in her schedule! Heck I didn't even know much about social media!  To see how far I have come in such a short amount of time, and to see how much I have truly stepped out of my comfort zone in order to reach those goals that I have set for myself is just incredible.  I absolutely LOVE what I do!  Why?   Because I love that I am able to do something that I am passionate about while being able to stay home with my girls.  THEY are my "WHY."  They are the reason that I push myself daily to be a better and better person.

Weeks 3 & 4 of CIZE! I completed the program!

Happy Sunday!  It's been WAY TOO LONG since my last post so I thought I'd squeeze one in this morning before heading out for the day.  Things got a bit hectic with the start of school and the new germs coming in to our house, that the majority of my family, including myself, was sick last week!  We are on the mends now and should all be fine within the next couple of days.  ANYWAYS, in the midst of all of this, I DID complete CIZE!!  I finished the program just over a week ago and since everyone was sick, I haven't had a chance to blog about it!  So, let me give you a short idea of what exactly is involved with the final two weeks.

 So, Week 3 consists of 2 more new workouts.  The first is called Go For It with music by Missy Elliott and the second is called Livin in the 8s with music by Sia.  To be honest, I have a video of what Go For It looks like but for some reason I can't upload it in to this blog post! Overall I REALLY enjoyed the program!  I personally chose to go with the Advanced calendar because I didn't think that I would be able to do the same workout multiple days in a row. I definitely prefer to switch it up daily.  I also enjoyed the 8 Count Abs workouts.  Abs are a tough muscle to define so having a short workout with a good beat and great music is extra helpful.  

Something that I did for my challengers was create an accountability calendar for Cize. I created a wide range!  I used the Advanced Schedule and 2 types of Beginner Schedules.

Something that I did start to incorporate in to my daily workouts is Energize, which is from the new Performance Line! I love that it gives me a little boost of energy to push harder through my workouts!

I continued to stick with the portion controlled nutrition program my final 2 weeks as well.  Since I've been following the 21 Day Fix plan for quite some time now, this was not a new change for me. If you HAVE NOT experienced the portion controlled plan then I HIGHLY recommend it. It's a great program that tells you what you should be eating, when to eat, and how much to eat. It really doesn't get any easier. There is not counting points or calories. It's just using the correct portions and making sure you get enough of each nutritional group.  Below are my final two plans from the Cize program.

Chocolate Shakeology

I of course incorporate Shakeology in to my daily routine. Sick or not, this is ALWAYS a must!  I know that I am getting my daily dose of nutrients in, as well as getting that natural energy to get through the day. I love that I have something this convenient and delicious to enjoy on a daily basis. It truly is the healthiest meal of the day! 








Overall, I think this program is GREAT!  Even if you are not a coordinated person, Shaun T does a FANTASTIC job at taking the moves step by step until you master it.  I have to say; however, if you do not enjoy dancing in the slightest way, then this program may not be for you. I literally felt like I had a dance party in my family room every single day!  For me, it was a fun way to work up a good sweat and burn some calories! 

When the program came out I ran an exclusive CIZE IT UP test group.  The results were GREAT!  The program is 4 weeks long and in those 4 weeks, challengers lost anywhere from 2-8lbs and 6+ inches!

So, what's next for me?! Well, since finishing up Cize, I got a bit off track!  Once we all got sick appetites were a bit lost and my plan wasn't exactly followed.  So, I am starting FRESH this week!  Since I took a break from weights, I'm adding them back in! I have decided to do a hybrid of the 21 Day Fix Extreme workouts as well as PiYO!  These are two of my favorite programs and they compliment each other nicely.

With a new month brings new challenges!  TOMORROW, I am kicking off my FIX Up for Fall group!  Everyone in this group is using the 21 Day Fix or 21 Day Fix Extreme programs, along with Shakeology.  

Then, on September 21st, I am kicking off my FALL in to Fitness group!  With this group, everyone has the option to use a Beachbody program of their choice, which I will help you decide on, along with Shakeology. I will focus on clean eating tips, meal planning, support, and motivation to stick to those Fall health and fitness goals!
